Work Hard Play Hard

This blog comes to you from one of the two brother-sister alliances of the group: Cheyenne and William Farrell.

Since today was our third day on the build site, most of us knew what we were doing when we got there. Yes, we needed instructions from the masons to ensure everything was done accordingly, but we no longer need to be taught the small things, such as how to make rebar. This helped move everything along much quicker!

By the end of the work day, we had finished the front bricks of the house!! Tomorrow we can start the cement floor inside the house and the sidewalk!

The second half of our day was spent at a waterfall in the middle of the forest! You could hear the waterfall long before you could see it. Wow, it was amazing! We swam in the pond that the water fell into.

Today Cheyenne spent a lot of time with the children and I learned that even if I cannot understand them, and they cannot understand me, we can still laugh together and make an impression on one another.

Today, William started off by getting to work on mixing the cement that was needed to finish the bricklaying for the top layer of the house. He soon began filling in the final layer of bricks with cement that was brought to him in buckets. Near the end of the day William's newest "amigo" Marvin showed up at the work site after finishing at school. However there was no time for fun and games because the group had to leave the work site early in order to see the waterfall high up in the Nicaraguan mountains.

Exhausted from the work and the long walk, the group then headed to La Casita, a small coffee shop surrounded by an extensive garden and park, where they finished the day with a well earned treat.

Laying on her back and looking up at the sky while in the water was Cheyenne's favorite part of the day because she felt like it was just her, the waterfall and God in this little paradise.

Williams favorite part of the day was seeing and hearing the roaring and powerful waterfall as it spewed water over the side of a beautiful cliff that was glowing from the bright Nicaraguan sun.
